On Friday Google launched its Street View cars that will record everything that happens on the streets of Jakarta. Later each recorded image is displayed on the site Google Maps, so that we can see the situation of the streets of Jakarta without having to be in that place at that time as well. Not only Jakarta, Street View cars will scour the streets of several major cities in Indonesia.

On one side of the Street View will provide convenience to us to see the real situation of the city streets. The things that certainly can not be recorded than just lines on a map. If the data is displayed in real time or a little delay, we can know the current road situation or jammed so that helps users to find an alternative road.

On the other hand, there are concerns that have emerged since the emergence of Street View in 2007. It deals with privacy issues. All the information captured by the Street View camera cars will be displayed online without permission (consent) of any person, property owner or other things that may not be for public consumption. Back to Indonesia, privacy honestly never became an important discussion. Many people easily include a phone number, home address, or other important data on the Internet without thinking that these data can be used by parties who are not responsible, even by Google though.

Although Google had promised not to do illegal acts related to data collection via Wi-Fi networks that are not secure (unsecured public network), who will ensure that such a thing will not happen in Indonesia?

The main target of this privacy breach actually public places being industrious-getolnya installed Wi-Fi networks, such as TransJakarta bus stops and parks. In all these places, the Wi-Fi it does not use a password, which means that a particular technology can be a violation.
